WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to verify the authenticity of incoming messages online. The service is aimed at combating fake news and disinformation, which have become a major problem online.

Social networks and messengers have become the main France WhatsApp Number List channels for disseminating malicious and simply misleading information. Facebook* and Twitter have already implemented fact-checking services, and now WhatsApp is following suit. The new feature will allow users of the app to check the contents of messages that have been forwarded to them via web search.



Twitter user shriniv shared a screenshot showing how the new feature is implemented in the beta version:

A company spokesperson said: "We're working on new features to help users get more information about messages that have been forwarded multiple times."

There is no timetable for the rollout of the anti-fake feature yet. WhatsApp says it is currently being tested and is looking forward to its release in the near future.
